I love this scene because it is filmed in such a way where you feel as if you are in the battle right besides hector and a chillies. The music after hector dies and the faces on his family members and wife that couldn't look when hector fell really shows the grief and huge loss that all of troy felt.
I do agree that the way scene was shot does add to the intensity of the overall battle. However, the editing is what takes it home for this one. We get really fast shots especially after each swing by achilles or troy and it really adds a frantic feel and feeling of not knowing where each hit is going to land. The cuts make it almost unpredictable and keeps the viewer on edge. As the battle stretches towards the end we do see more cuts going from the spectators to the fighters continuously and as the battle reaches the end we can see the changes of emotional expression in the faces of the spectators, making a foreshadowing of who the victor will be. The way the music changes also adds to the emotional effect of the spectators as well but the editing really captures the moment.
