Walking Dead Episode juxtaposition and jump cuts

In this episode of the Walking Dead self help, they have two different types of editing into one episode. The first type they do is jump cuts. The second that they use is the use of juxtaposition in the episode. Abraham, Glen, Maggie, Tara, Eugene and Rosita all go to Washington D.C to find a cure for the out breaks. The editor uses jump cuts once the bus crashes which was transporting them to D.C. The crew gets out of the bus with Eugene as the last one to get out because he is still trying to learn to be comfortable with the situation among them. Once Eugene comes out, the camera jumps to Tara fighting a walker, then Abraham, and then to Glen, Maggie and Rosita all killing zombies followed by a quick cut showing Tara saving him from being eaten by a walker.

As the episode continues the crew finds out that Eugene has been lying to them the entire time. After the audience finds that out the scene goes into a series of flash backs with Abrahams story, while cutting back to everyone, besides Eugene upset.  This juxtaposing technic shows the audiences how Abraham met Eugene, while simultaneously showing the group going into shock pretty much. The scenes of Abraham’s memories, or flash backs show the watcher the struggles he went through, just to get to where he is today. It shows how he almost killed himself; he lost his family to walkers and more. The reason for the juxtaposition is because of the lie that Eugene told. I think if he didn’t lie in the first place we wouldn’t see or feel how hurt Abraham is at Eugene. I also think the reason why they use the jump cuts in the beginning is to show how Eugene is scared and confused as his friends are able to kill the zombies but he isn’t. I also think its foreshadowing how Eugene’s knows that he isn’t the cure but he doesn’t have the courage yet to tell his friends the truth.
