Lets Be Cops
The other day I watched the movie "Lets Be Cops". My feelings towards cops did not change although I am a fan of the film and the idea behind it. The movie is about these 2 guys who decide to be cops for a halloween party and end up pretending to be cops over the course of the movie. One of the people in the movie who plays a cop is a video game designer in his actual life. The video designer's idea for a new video game based on cops gets shot down by the owner of the company. At the end of the movie the video designer comes back to the office to tell the boss that his (the boss) video game sucks and that his (the cop) video should be the one getting all the attention. As the cop is describing the game to the people of the board a real life situation is going on with the other cop (his partner). The other cop is busy getting chased and shot at by these mobsters that they previously messed with while they were pretending to be cops. The video designer is describing the game as being real- life like, he tells the people of the board that the game makes you really feel like you are a part of the game and the action. As he is describing this the editor cuts back and forth between the video designer and his partner who is really in the action. The people of the board and the video game designer are unaware that the other cop is getting shot at by real bullets and the fight is coming to the office. At the end of the presentation a real criminal with a real gun rams through the door of the office and fires shots at the fake cop/game designer. The people of the board think this is fake and everyone starts clapping, very impressed with the presentation and unaware those are real bullets. The editor creates a great scene with the cutting between the real action and the presentation.

Hey Dylan I like your thoughts on Lets Be Cops. I honestly thought the plot was very stereotypical though and the editing i think is what saved that movie. They fake being cops which is funny and all but like always in order to make the movie worthwhile the story entails that they get sucked into the police force and become "actual cops". The editing was ok at the beginning, during their action scenes the cuts were sped up and the music generally became mission impossible like or in any sense badass. Which is great but like I said there is only so much you can get out of a story like this so they rely on cheesy music. Also of course one of them has a good looking girlfriend that struggles with relationship issues. The movie is overall an unoriginal idea and as comedies go a little over mediocre. The editing during the movies non action intensive parts is very average and displays nothing that is eye catching what so ever. Its a movie i would watch if there was only reruns on tv. The fact that someone as a producer and editors undertook this movie is an achievement and i believe they utilized as much as they could such a plot, honestly its impressive that they made it as interesting as it was.
